This handcrafted clay nativity is made in the small mountain village of Quinua, Ayacucho by the Apaza family. The nativity figurines are all wearing bowler hats and chullos, a knitted hat made from llama wool. Even the baby Jesus is wearing a chullo. They also have bare feet or sandals. Peruvians often go barefoot, even in cold weather.
