This little nativity is a thorn wood carving. These miniature figurines, standing only 3 inches tall, represent the Yoruba people. They are made from the thorns of the ata tree or the egungun tree. Both trees have long conical thorns which grow up to 5 inches. The thorns are soft and easy to carve and come in rose, brown, and cream.
